Education is a basic right to which all should be afforded access. However, for children in the Dominican Republic that can not afford to pay for private school, they are left behind. These children are left to be destined to continue in the vicious cycle of poverty and despair because they do not possess basic skills (i.e. reading and writing). These children also have inadequate health care and nutrition.
It is in response to these challenges that God led Sister Mercedes Nelson Amancio to spearhead a school that will assist these disadvantaged children. God gave her the vision and the blue-print, but she did not know where the support would come from. While traveling with the Church Of God In Christ Youth On A Mission team, Elder Vincent Mathews received the information concerning the school. When he returned home, Elder Mathews shared the information with Bishop C. L. Anderson. Bishop Anderson was very enthusiastic about the school and asked Elder Mathews to generate support throughout the jurisdiction. Bishop Anderson died less than a month later. The Great Lakes Jurisdiction rallied around this school. which was the last directive given by Bishop Anderson. Subsequently, the money for the school was raised in one evening and the school was built.
We are now asking people to commit only $16.67 per month
($200.00 per year) to help make these children's dreams a reality.
Your contribution allows us to do the following things:
Allow your adopted young saint to attend classes teaching English, Spanish, Math, and Computers daily; Provide nutritious breakfast and lunch for your adopted young saint; Provide medical care by a doctor who will visit the school campus twice a week to provide medicines and vaccinations; Support your adopted saint by purchasing two school uniforms for him/her to wear everyday.
Look at what just a little money will allow us to provide. This is an ideal opportunity for you to be blessed by helping others. Adoption of a young saint is not limited to individuals though. Young saint adoption is ideal for: Churches, Sunday School Classes, Families, Block Clubs, Bible Study Groups, etc.
