Have
you come to these exotic islands lately?
Did you know that there are over 2,000 churches on these small islands? And
of that 2,000, the Church of God In Christ has 15 churches.
There are three established districts in the Bahamas Jurisdiction:
1) Nassau District
2) Andros District
3) Abaco District
For this portion of my web site I shall first 'highlight' the island district
of NASSAU!
Yes.......the island of Nassau......it is 21 miles long, and 7 to 9 miles wide,
and over 200,000 people (and approximately as many automobiles).
Transportation is a 'critical necessity'. The Church Of God In Christ has over
nine churches on this island alone.
Some of the other churches are on the other islands and do not get the visitation
or recognition that Nassau does (because Nassau is the 'major' island). The
Bahamas is in the heart of the sea and about 35 to 56 miles from Miami and Ft.
Lauderdale, according to what island you land on.
Nassau, New Providence is the headquarters for the Bahamas Jurisdiction and
Freeport, Grand Bahamas is the next (if not the most) visited island in the
Bahamas.
We have 4 churches on Freeport, but there is a great problem with many of these
churches remaining in the national body because the cost of living in these
island is 30 times greater than in the United States! These churches can not
afford to sustain themselves.
Prayers, financial assistance, Prayers, workers, Prayers and MORE Prayers is
greatly needed!
For every one American dollar, we must pay thirty dollars!
Many people come to the islands BUT TO VACATION AND NOT ATTEND CHURCH OR DO
CHURCH WORK!
Because many of the church members are in distant areas of the island, we are
in need of transportation also the transportation could be used for our outreach
ministries to the saved AND unsaved.
Victory Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. has a completely exposed roof. When it rains,
we can not use the building! We need a roof badly for this struggling church.
There are no windows and the flooring has NOT been completed.
Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C. has the land for an addition to it's present structure
and we would like to place an addition to that church to be used as a nursery
and child care facility. While this addition would provide additional funds
to support the church, it would also serve as a means to evangelize those unreached
families that would be served by the addition......we are very excited about
this!
Our most ambitious project is supporting our 50 identified C.O.G.I.C. students
in the Nassau District that want to attend school, but can not afford the required
uniforms, text books and tuition. The cost for one simple uniform is $ 100.00!,
tuition and books for one year is $ 1,500.00 per child!
Our needs are so great, but our God is GREATER!!!!!!!
